Now Open: Terra Tempe Kitchen & Spirits and Skysill Rooftop Lounge at Westin Tempe

19October 2021

Just in time for cooler weather, the Valley’s highest open-air rooftop bar has opened in Tempe. The Skysill Rooftop Lounge, located on the 18th floor of the Westin Tempe, 11 East 7th Street, has welcomed guests on the weekends since August 11, but is now open every day of the week.

The rooftop lounge features a heated pool, Jacuzzi, daybeds and cabanas, and a large video screen.  According to a press release, an extended lineup of seasonal events at the lounge will be announced soon, including fashion shows, holiday celebrations, and college and pro football watch parties. One popular promo currently offered is $5 domestics and game-day cocktail specials for Arizona State football games on the bar’s big screen.

The Skysill Rooftop Lounge is open Mondays through Thursdays from 4 to 10 p.m., Friday from 4 to 11 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

A Modern-American concept restaurant, Terra Tempe Kitchen & Spirits, opened on the ground floor of the Westin Tempe on August 11. The restaurant serves breakfast from 6:30 to 10 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. with extended hours on the weekends.

Both the ground-floor restaurant and the rooftop bar will be helmed by Chef Alexander Robinson, who has more than 20 years experience in the luxury hotel scene, including stints at Royal Palms and We-Ko-Pa Resorts in Scottsdale.

The Terra Tempe Kitchen & Spirits menu culls tastes from a variety of cultures, including Spanish, Native American, Mexican, and early American. The dinner menu has shared plates, soups and salads, and fish, chicken and beef dishes. Baked huarache, a Mexican dish of masa dough, pinto beans, salsa, onions, potato, cilantro and a protein like beef or chicken, and topped with queso fresco, is one of the most-requested menu items. Huaraches are like sopes and tlacoyos, but are a different shape.
